Garden Design for Animal Wellness

                                                                       Medicine

You may watch animals retreat to the same spot to lie down and rest. Some animals consistently seek shade while other animals go out of their way to seek even the smallest amount of sun. They know. They know what their body needs.

They will eat certain plants to self medicate...cooling or warming medicine depending on their condition or "Pattern of Disharmony"  in Chinese medicine.

We have all known dogs who "eat grass and then throw up". The moisture and temperature helps cool their bellies. Animals are intentional in what they do. If our intention is to help them return to the balance needed for their body to heal itself then it is up to us to watch and listen.

Pugsly chooses THIS rock perhaps so he can inhale the scent of the Lavendula (Lavender) to help him with his nap!

This girl just wants to know why everyone is arguing over whether to legalize marijuana...medicinal or otherwise. Just try some Nepeta!! (Catmint)

Animals are much better at knowing what they need then we are when it comes to "medicine"!

Spaces may be designed with your animal's health and wellbeing in mind. Selected herbs and wildflowers can be grown in as large a space as your paddocks or hedgerows around your paddocks so that your horses have free choice "medicine" when they need it. They can also be grown in small spaces, in raised beds in urban areas where they can be dried and "top dressed" on your animal's feed.
The possibilities are endless and can be as beautiful as they are medicinal.

Hmm...whose helping to pick and eat the Dandelions?
